Installation & Configuration

The CPUM Mk2 and IOCN Mk2 are single-width modules that each occupy one slot in the ABE04x system rack. For standard operation, install the CPUM Mk2 at the rack front with the IOCN Mk2 directly behind it at the rear. Both modules connect to the rack backplane via two connectors.

For rack-level communication redundancy, install two pairs: one as the "master" in slots 0 and the other as the "subordinate" in slots 1. This pair configuration works with all ABE04x racks and later models with an I²C interface.

System Integration

The CPUM Mk2 acquires measurement data by connecting to other processing modules (such as MPC4 Mk2 and future AMCx Mk2) via the VME bus and XMx16 modules via Ethernet. It shares this data with third-party systems including DCS or PLC, and supports basic processing operations including arithmetic and logical functions.

Note: The CPUM Mk2 is incompatible with first-generation cards and functions as a low-bandwidth data gateway for XMx16 modules. As a rack controller, it can configure XMx16 + XIO16T modules without requiring a server.
